Frequently Asked Question
Version: V10 and later
After V10, Plato apps no longer needed a formal relicense process. When annual maintenance accounts are paid, the license is automatically extended and the system can keep itself current.
If you see a warning dialog like this:
it means your license is about to expire.
You can check your license status by manually refreshing it.
Manual License Refresh
As the dialog advises, there are two manual options:
- A supervisor can run plato.exe with Ctrl key held down, or
- a system administrator can run config.exe.
Both options need an internet connection to download the new license from the Plato website. If there is an internet fault or the license cannot be downloaded, an error dialog will be raised.
Config.exe
When you run config.exe, the system offers to rebuild your PAF (license) file. If you answer Yes, config.exe downloads latest license details and updates the license:
If you have refreshed the license and still see Refresh dialogs:
This means your license actually is about to expire. As Plato licenses remain current as long as annual fees are paid, unexpected expiry almost always means your Plato account is in arrears.
